Why Choose an Endodontist?

Specialized training, advanced technology, and a focus on saving your natural teeth.

Advanced Education
🎓

Advanced Education

Endodontists complete two or more years of specialty training beyond dental school, focusing exclusively on diseases inside teeth.

Experience and Efficiency

Experience & Efficiency

On average, endodontists perform 25 root canals each week — giving unique insight into every tooth for quicker, more comfortable treatment.

Emergency Availability

We work hard to accommodate emergency cases and avoid treatment delays. Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible.

Cutting-Edge Technology
🔬

Cutting-Edge Technology

We use operating microscopes, digital X-rays, and 3D Cone Beam CT imaging to diagnose more accurately and treat patients comfortably.

Our Procedures

Advanced endodontic treatments designed to save your natural teeth and relieve your pain.

Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is required when bacteria irreversibly damage the tooth's pulp. The procedure removes the infected tissue, saves the natural tooth, and relieves pain — and today it's no more uncomfortable than a filling.

Endodontic Retreatment

Endodontic Retreatment

With good care, some root canal-treated teeth can last a lifetime. If a previous root canal breaks down or becomes reinfected, retreatment reopens the tooth, cleans the canals thoroughly, and reseals them.

Apicoectomy

Apicoectomy

When inflammation persists after a root canal, an apicoectomy removes the tip of the root and seals the end of the canal. Most patients return to normal activities the next day with mild post-surgical discomfort.

Cracked Teeth

Cracked Teeth

Tyler Endodontics specializes in saving cracked teeth. Treatment is tailored to the type, location, and extent of the crack. The sooner your tooth is treated, the better the outcome.

Calming Dental Fears

Patient Information

Everything you need to know before, during, and after your visit.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

On your initial appointment, we will perform a few simple tests on your tooth to confirm the recommended treatment and take specific X-rays to allow us to make a correct diagnosis. The doctor will ask you about your symptoms, make a diagnosis, and give you treatment options available to you.

In many instances, we are able to treat patients at their first appointment. Depending on your specific case, your first appointment may be an evaluation — these usually take 20–30 minutes.

Please bring the following:

  • Your referral form from your dentist
  • A current list of your medications and/or medical conditions
  • Your dental insurance information, if you have it
  • A parent or legal guardian must accompany any patient under the age of 18

Before Treatment Care

Treatment is performed using local anesthesia. Typically, there are no restrictions after the procedure regarding driving or returning to work.

Patients should continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. Remember to eat a normal breakfast or lunch prior to your appointment.

If your physician or dentist recommends antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse, hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis, or rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you take the appropriate antibiotic 1hr prior to your appointment.

If you have any questions, please call our friendly staff.

After Treatment Care

Your tooth and surrounding gums may be tender to bite or chew for as a result of treatment and the previous condition of your tooth. This tenderness is normal and is not a cause for concern.

It is best to avoid chewing on the affected side until your endodontic therapy is completed by your dentist in the form of a protective restoration. Continue your regular dental hygiene routine.

Discomfort can be reduced by taking ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed. We do not recommend consuming alcohol while taking these medications.

Should you have discomfort that is not controlled with Advil or Tylenol, or should swelling develop, please contact our office for further guidance.

Financial Policy & Insurance

We make every effort to offer payment options that will allow you to stay within your budget. At Tyler Endodontics, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Cherry, and CareCredit®.

We offer 6-month, interest-free financing through both Cherry and CareCredit®. We will gladly submit your insurance claims; however, we do ask that your estimated portion be due at the time of service.

We work hand in hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. Our staff can give an estimate of what your insurance carrier will pay toward your care. Once treatment is completed and your insurance pays its portion, any remaining balance is your responsibility.

For further questions about your insurance coverage, please call us!

Our Ethics

Our office follows the Golden Rule — treating our patients with the dignity, integrity, and respect we would expect for ourselves. An accurate diagnosis of oral pain is often quite difficult, and we will always take the time and effort to identify the source of your pain and recommend appropriate treatment.

We will educate you about your prognosis and all options available to you. When properly performed and adequately restored, the rate of success is very high. However, there are certain circumstances, such as cracks in tooth structure, that are not always evident during treatment, which could ultimately affect the outcome. We will always be transparent with you.

Honest Diagnosis

We take the time to accurately identify the source of your pain and will never recommend unnecessary treatment.

Full Transparency

You will be fully informed of your diagnosis, prognosis, and all available treatment options before any procedure begins.

Respect & Dignity

Every patient is treated with the dignity and respect we would want for our own family members.

Calming Your Dental Fears

Does the thought of going to the dentist cause you anxiety? Rest assured, you're not alone. Our team understands and honors your concerns, and will do whatever we can to help you through your experience. We offer several sedation options:

Nitrous Oxide

Better known as "laughing gas," nitrous oxide helps many patients feel more relaxed during treatment without putting you to sleep. Because it doesn't enter your bloodstream, you can drive yourself afterward if needed.

Oral Sedation

Anxious patients can be prescribed a pill to help relax them while having work done. You will remain conscious but will feel calm and at ease throughout the procedure.

IV Sedation

For patients who want to be completely asleep, our office works closely with an anesthesiologist who will place you in a light sleep and monitor you throughout. A driver is required.

Informed Consent

I understand that Root Canal treatment is a procedure to retain a tooth which may otherwise require extraction. Although Root Canal therapy has a very high degree of clinical success, it is still a biological procedure, so it cannot be guaranteed. Occasionally a tooth which has had Root Canal therapy may require retreatment, surgery, or even extraction. I also understand that the permanent outside restoration (crown) will be done by my regular dentist.

Although rare, the following complications may occur in endodontic therapy in the following percentages: pain and swelling 5%, damage to an existing crown or filling 1/2%, fracture of a root less than 1%, fracture of a fine instrument in root canal 1%, overfill, underfill or perforation of a root less than 5%.

To the best of my knowledge, all the preceding answers are true and correct. If I ever have any change in my health, or if my medicines change, I will inform the doctor without fail. I hereby give my consent to perform necessary diagnostic tests (including x-rays), evaluation and treatment. I understand that I am responsible to pay for services rendered in this office. As a result of the injection or use of anesthesia, there may be swelling, jaw muscle tenderness or even result numbness of the tongue, lips, teeth, jaws and/or facial tissues, which is typically temporary, but in rare instances, may be permanent.
